URBANA, IL – The Asian American Cultural Center is proud to feature a group art exhibition for the Boneyard Arts Festival brought to you by community members and students at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. The new art exhibition entitled “AAPI Strong: Standing United” will be exhibited starting April 4, 2017 to May 31, 2017. This art exhibit explores the resiliency of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the community and their instances of solidarity with other racial minorities and those who have been marginalized and oppressed.
Curator Robert Hwang stated, “AAPI Strong: Standing United was primarily a way for the community to show support for oppressed minority groups. Being in the Asian American Cultural Center is not just about promoting Asian issues and values but understanding and collaborating with the community at large. While curating this exhibit, I hope to display the diverse fabric of our community.”
