Sponsored by La Colectiva, a student organization at the University of Illinois that exists to address the challenges faced by the immigrant community within Champaign-Urbana. Their mission is to advocate social justice and change on behalf of all immigrants while simultaneously serving the community by fostering leadership and providing resources through grassroots initiatives. Applications are accepted in the spring.
Award:La Colectiva will be awarding two $500 scholarships.
Eligibility:Open to all DACA-eligible students at the University of Illinois -Urbana/Champaign. Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and demonstrate community involvement.
Scholarship Winners:Taking an active role in the community is important to La Colectiva scholarship recipients are expected to continue their community engagement following their recognition. In addition, the recipient must attend La Colectiva’s annual Scholarship Banquet in April 2018. Upon their selection, recipients will have the option to choose whether or not they want public recognition for their achievement. If the recipient chooses to publicize his/her achievement, he/ she will be honored during La Colectiva’s Scholarship Banquet.
